Thinking about systems and thinking systemically

The essay elaborates two claims. The first asserts that "thinking about systems" is not quite the same thing as "thinking systemically" and the second asserts that the "thinking" involved in "thinking systemically" is not only or even primarily a cognitive process but inevitably involves acting into situations. The purpose of the essay is to work out some of these ideas for myself and to invite others to enter into conversation with them. W.
