In working with complexity and looking for resilient organisations the team is often emphasised. Team situational awareness is stronger than a single leader having awareness for example. 'None of us is as smart as all of us' (Ken Blanchard). With that in mind I was struck by the unofficial saying of the UK submarine service 'Either we all come back, or none of us do.' It turns out that submarine services have thought quite a lot about the team work they need to meet that exacting life or death standard.
They have developed tools to measure what they are looking for and are using 'team neurodynamics' research to develop their expertise.
