We as Liberal Arts and Sciences students at the University College Groningen (UCG) aim to contribute to the manner in which we approach of the issue of sustainability. Therefore, in May 2016, we will organize the very first edition of our conference series LASCON. This year's theme is 'Towards a sustainable future'. We will provide a bird eye's view on the concept of sustainability, as well as a focussed perspective on particular issues: "What do we need for a sustainable society?", "Can genetically modified foods beat hunger in Africa?","Can we create an immortal human race?"
In line with the LAS philosophy, the conference aims to integrate different disciplines to find directions towards a sustainable future. The conference will take place Thursday 26 and Friday 27 May 2016.
